As costs become more prominent, global sourcing and procurement leaders are increasingly taking a more complete view of their costs with a strong focus in controlling their manufacturing, logistics and supply chain lead-time costs.

Biography

Dittmar Nerger, Head Of Healthcare Strategic Sourcing, Bayer Healthcare
Dittmar has served as Head of Healthcare Strategic Sourcing in Shanghai since 2004.He joined Bayer’s Research in 1983 and headed the Department for New Polymer R&D from 1985 - 1988. In 1994, Dittmar transferred to Bayer Healthcare in Korea. From 1998 to 2002, he headed Bayer Animal Health Division’s Global Technical Operation Department in Monheim, Germany. Dittmar transferred in 2002 to Chengdu, as the General Manager of Bayer’s JV and serves as chairman of the same JV since 2003. In Nov. 2007, Dittmar was awarded with the China Supply Chain Executive of the Year Award by the China Supply Chain Council. Dittmar holds a PhD in polymer science from the U. of Freiburg

He also drives the global sourcing activity from East Asia for Federal-Mogul plants located in HCC.Prior to Federal-Mogul, Thegner was Commodity Purchasing Manager Asia Pacific for Visteon, where he was responsible for all purchasing commodities in Asia for the Interior Division of Visteon.

Rolando Saavedra, Director and Head of Strategic Planning for Operations at TE Connectivity
Rolando is the Director and Head of Strategic Planning for Operations at TE Connectivity (TE) in Asia Pacific. He is responsible for leading, developing and implementing strategies to increase TE competitiveness and capabilities in the region.Born in Colombia, Rolando holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University.  He started his career by working in nuclear submarines. He worked for a number of years with Volvo Group in Asia leading its supply chain for heavy machinery based out of Korea and China.

Elemica Sourcing: Multi-customer Collaboration
 Elemica identified product testing services as a commodity that had provided average savings of 13% for customers across three regions. A number of customers were encourgaed to consider testing services as a collaboration opportunity. Elemica identified additional suppliers in each region and worked with Purchasing for buy-in from stakeholders in Technical Services. Due to different customer requirements, a hybrid-solution was developed to address the specific needs of each customer.The product testing event saved 21%. Improved payment terms were additional benefits realized by the participating customers through this event.
