Supply Chain Technology Trends
This session will cover Emerging Technology Trends for Warehousing (WH) & Distribution Centre (DC) in China. This presentation shall cover the challenges for WH & DC in modern China, and introduce the key emerging order fulfillment technologies, including voice solution, poised for organizations to consider for adoption.
 
Customer Voice Implementations at Estee Lauder
Estee Lauder Companies is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of quality skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. Our speaker Roland Chong, the Asia Pacific Senior Director (Distribution & Logistics) of Estee Lauder Cosmetics Company, is responsible for developing and implementing the Asia Pacific supply chain strategy, establishing an efficient and customer focused distribution service within the APAC region. He spear-headed and directed the teams in setting up Distribution Centers in Japan, China, South-east Asia and Korea. Voice solution was identified as the technology for productivity improvement, reducing picking error rate, achieving high accuracy rate, as well as reducing training time for workers, in Distribution Centers.

During the presentation, Roland will cover the following topics:

Biography

 
Roland Chong, Asia Pacific Senior Director(Distribution& Logistics), Estee Lauder Cosmetics Company
Roland is currently the Asia Pacific Senior Director (Distribution & Logistics) of Estee Lauder Cosmetics Company, with key responsibilities in developing and implementing the Asia Pacific supply chain strategy, establishing an efficient and customer focused distribution service within the APAC region. Over the last 5 years, he spear-headed and directed the teams in setting up Distribution Centres in Japan, China, South-east Asia and Korea. He has  more than 20 years of extensive experience in the fields of International Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Customer Service and Information Technology with several Multi-National Companies, including F&N Coca-Cola, Nike and General Electric Companies. Roland was instrumental in the transformation of the logistics business model in F&N Coca-Cola where he spent 6.5 years as the Operations & ECR Director, responsible for leading and integrating demand and supply planning, sourcing and logistics processes to significantly improve the performance of the total value chain.

Denny McKnight, Partner, Distribution Operations, Tompkins Associates, Inc.
A strong, hands-on supply chain manager with extensive experience in design and operations. Denny has spent much of his 24-year career involved with distribution logistics, warehousing and warehouse management systems. He is a specialist in the design and implementation of large-scale distribution, warehouse, material handling and control systems.  In addition to his 18 years with Tompkins, Denny also served in a variety of supply chain roles at athletic apparel manufacturer Champion Products.  He received his B.S. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from The Ohio State University.  When not optimizing his customer’s supply chains, Denny enjoys mountain bike riding, waterskiing, and playing really BAD golf.

Larry Sweeney, Senior Vice President, Strategic Markets and Co-founder, Vocollect
Larry Sweeney is Senior Vice President- Strategic Markets with Vocollect, Inc. Based in Tokyo office, Larry has a corporate sales strategy and business development role focused on supporting the Japan office and developing a go-to-market strategy for Vocollect expansion throughout Asia-Pacific. Larry co-founded Vocollect in 1987 with Roger Byford. Prior to joining Vocollect, Larry served as a product development engineer for Westinghouse Electric Corporation, a U.S.-based global supplier of technology products for the power generation and defense industries. Larry helped to create a line of voice-activated quality control systems for inspection of hybrid-integrated circuits used in missile guidance systems.
