Event Description

You and your colleagues are invited to join the Council for a new workgroup discussion on "M&A Outlook and Approaches in China’s logistics industry" on Aug 11, 2010 in Shanghai. The workshop will start with a presentation, then followed by a group discussion around the following topic:

M&A Outlook and Approaches in China’s logistics industry
Many market leaders view China, the world’s second-largest economy, as the “it” country for expansion, and identify the country’s logistics industry as the next growth frontier.  Since China opened its logistics industry to wholly owned foreign enterprises in 2005, there has been a surge in mergers and acquisitions.  M&A has not only reshaped the Chinese logistics industry but also introduced new technologies and more reliable products and services.  Further consolidation is expected, and domestic companies are taking notice.

As expansion-minded firms—domestic and foreign—strive to grow in China, they face certain challenges in conducting mergers and acquisitions. How skillfully companies approach these challenges will determine the extent to which their cross-cultural “marriages” succeed.

In this workshop, we will review and discuss:
- State of China’s current logistics industry
- Drivers of M&A and shifts in customer behaviors
- China M&A hotspots
Successful M&A approaches
